Project Brighton

SiCamp, the conference that aimed to solve just some of society’s multifarious ills, ended last weekend after a frenzied few days’ work.

Enabled by Design was the winner of the £2000 prize. This is a great initiative to provide better aids to disabled people through a combination of modern design and an eBay-style second-hand market. 

Prison Visits, which would allow visitors to rate their prison visit in a bid to improve conditions for visitors, grabbed the runners-up prize and £1000.It will be interesting to see how many of the SiCamp projects turn into working websites. One fantastically compelling nugget from their presentation video: “a power drill is used for 20 mins in its lifetime”. Just knowing that makes me want to share my poor under-used drill!
